Decided to check out big Rock lake Saturday. Was there for about 25 mins. and caught a horse of a smallie out of the lake as did another guy. That was it and I left. That is the exact reason I need to get a new pair of waders now that my back is better and hit the Fox and some creeks. At least I can fish for an hour or two when wading. I can't stand bank fishing the river because I know I'm missing 95% of the fish, you gotta get in there and hit the holes and current breaks. Besides that, there is a bigger variety of fish in the river. Yorkville is looking pretty attractive right now!

I was there that day too. Must have just missed you. You and the other guy both came up in conversation. I walked around the whole damn lake. Talked to the guy in the boat as he worked the ledge from the lake side and me from the shore side.

That's what inspired this little write up.

I wouldn't go in the water just yet. Yesterday kept me out.

Summers comin'. May as well wait now.
Leaky waders in the summer don't feel so bad.

Nice read Ken. I was talking to the guy in the boat in the parking lot. I told him myself and another guy both caught some nice size smallies in the lake by the bridge. That was it. I spent about 20 mins after I caught the fish and didn't get a bump, so I was gone. As I looked around, I noticed no one was catching shit. So I'm not going to waste my time walking to a different spot or casting out to nothing. The other guy that caught the smallie was with his daughter. She was about 10 yrs old and she was reeling her big fat red & white round bobber in. Her father said to her "Mary leave it out there, you have to be patient, just let it sit there and watch it." Well I can bet that little girl never caught a thing following that advice. If the fish are jumping out of the water at a spot, thats great. However if they're not it's boring and when my body just stands in one spot, motionless for to long all my aches and pains start coming out. Movement is key.
