Just heard from a friend about the removal of Hoffman Dam, Fairbanks Dam (one below hoffman) and Armitage Dam (located just north of north avenue and east of 1st ave in river grove) and I did some searching to verify this story. Here is the article I found about the removal of these dams. http://www.rblandmark.com/main.asp?Sect ... TM=83416.2

What do you all think about this? How will this effect water levels and the fishing?

John Mach is a name I haven't heard in a long time. I got involved with the start up of Salt Creek Watershed Network 14 years ago. Met John then. He spearheaded dam removals on the Des Plaines where I got interested in them and I eventually turned my interests to the Fox. People didn't like to see us show up at dam removal meetings. :D

Nothing worse than fishermen with brains.

Like he said, we thought it was going to happen a long time ago. It's about time. No dam is a good dam and if this finally happens it will be a good thing for the river. Plus, I would imagine that the walleye runs up Salt Creek will improve dramatically.

If you hear anything else, post it please.
