From the Wisconsin border to the Illinois River, some of the best and easily accessible fishing in the Chicago area.

And with that, I'm done

Post by Ken G »

After 13 years of proving it to myself, I will never fish the Fox between Yorkville and the Dayton dam ever again.

Except for the 7 or so creeks that feed into this stretch. Those are still worth it.

Between April 1st and June 15th when I stopped counting, I caught and missed over 500 fish out of Blackberry Creek alone. Then they leave and disappear in that 26 mile long stretch of the Fox.

It is no longer worth my time to try to find them.

Good for you, man. There are still some stretches north of that which are worthwhile ;)

Was thinking about that today. Giving up on moving to Plano, it's a dump. Was checking out the towns on 30 West. Big Rock, Hinkley, Waterman. That would put me back in my old stomping grounds between Geneva and Aurora if I don't feel like driving south of Aurora.

I know someone with rental property out that way.

As far as I'm concerned, I haven't fished the river at all this year. I think I made 2 or 3 visits, but so few equal nothing in my mind. It's been a crazy fucked up year for me, and I'm looking forward to what the future may hold.

If anything comes up before March 1st, let me know Ed. I'm liking that area more each week I explore. Plus, it's much easier to head east for work, even if it is a bit further. Straight shot, no lights or stop signs. Saves me 10-15 minutes.
