Great Northwoods WI & MI

Post by ThunderStick »

Me and the family did the overnight backpack trip into the Porkies, stayed in a beautiful cabin on Mirror lake. Took my son out at 5:30am on the rowboat, third cast my son caught a splake on an orange Mepps. Spent another 2 hours casting with nothing to show for our efforts. Rowed back to the cabin, got the aspen/pine fire going again and cooked the splake over the fire. Delicious!

Last Thursday I caught a 43" musky on a hawg wobbler at dusk while wading the shore of the lake we stay at every year. Its my personal best. The thought crossed my mind to quit fishing now that I've finally attained my monster fish goal but the notion passed. I gotta say, I've caught some big Kings before but the battle this fish put up and the resulting adreneline buzz was something else. Took me a couple hours to come down. All hail the mighty musky!

That sounds incredible. Musky is still high on my "want" list.
