Summer beeeeers....make me feel fine.

It is a rare occasion when I have 20+ beers in my fridge, but thanks to a recent game night and 3 cases being purchased for me for Father's Day festivities, I actually have an abundance. A surplus, really. Whole top shelf is beer only. It is primarily New Belgium Ranger IPA & Sierra Nevada Pale ...

Poplar Creek

I have a DNR study from like 10 years ago that showed a healthy population of smallmouth at a particular spot in Poplar Creek. After a fruitless trip to the Kimball Street dam last night, on a whim, I decided I would happily go to work way too late for an opportunity to do a little wandering and exp...

Re: Hypothetical question.

I didn't actually get to see or talk to my dad, so I just dropped it off and gave him carte blanche. He is a fisherman and a painter, so, we will see what happens. I also carved a Pop-r type bait and left that with him. If/when he finishes them I will make sure to post pics.

Re: Buffalo Park

Took my brother to the Fox River Trail pedestrian bridge after a trip to Vulcan on Sunday morning. First time I had been there. There were a couple guys wading below the bridge fishing the turbulent water in between the pilings. My brother and I were casting from shore. I was hitting the timber and ...

Hypothetical question.

Let's say...just for the sake of conversation, of course...that you spent your morning at work carving a Zara Spook-alike out of scrap wood that you found in a Taiwanese shipping container and that you planned to drop it off tonight with your dad who, as it so happens, is a good painter and has all ...

Re: Buffalo Park

Yeah I keep forgetting to resize stuff. Sorry about that. What is the ideal res for in here?

Also, considering how tenaciously active they were in the spot I was at, only hooking up with 2 in an hour or maybe 90 minutes is pretty sad.

Buffalo Park

Made a solo trek up to Buffalo Park this morning before work. Smallies were breaking the surface in slack current behind some downed timber. Threw tube jig, jig and twister and my Bomber A square lip. Bomber was the only thing they were interested in. Hooked up with two, only landed this guy. Losing...

I caught this/what is it?

Caught this guy at my local pond on a feathered jig. No trailer or bait, just the feathered jig. Slow descent. Was trying for bluegill. Cursory Googling has me thinking it is a bigmouth buffalo, but, on the other hand, I have never even heard of a bigmouth buffalo.

Wat dis?
