Re: Tyler Creek Forest Preserve
There were definitely some smaller baitfish. Whether or not they were minnows or darters or something else I couldn't tell you. Also, if any of those smallmouth head back upstream soon, there is a crawfish smorgasbord awaiting them. They were all over.

Advice for the first time wader?
I am heading out this Sunday morning and finally getting in the damn river. Going to start at Buffalo Park in Algonquin and work south towards C'ville. Had a credible tip of some good fishing in that stretch. I still don't have waders, so I will be wet-wading. First time to be out of shallow, clear ...

Tyler Creek Forest Preserve
Wet waded through a lot of Tyler Creek in Elgin Monday and Tuesday nights. Caught a ton of gills, greenies, chubs and some small bass. Wondering about something, though, since I know very little about this stuff. The smallmouth I caught were almost all tiny. 4-6 inches. Palm of the hand type fish. I...

Re: This thread is driving me nuts
Is it possible that these dudes are just not great at fishing and that is why they are complaining? I get skunked on the river all the time, I've never blamed it on people taking all the fish. Also, shouldn't the complaints and rage be directed at those not enforcing the regulations, not the ones br...

Re: How to do a "shore lunch?"
Thanks for the info. I will have to try this. I've heard largemouth aren't very good, but smallies are. Truth to that rumor? Also, would harvesting from creeks be better than the Fox proper? Related: ponds bluegills...bad idea?

Re: Hypothetical question.
The village came down on my dad and he has been mired in painting his house lately, so I don't know what/if any progress he has made with it, but because we have been really slow at work (please for the love of god somebody buy some fasteners) and I was anxious to try painting my own, I carved a Pop...

How to do a "shore lunch?"
So, catching, cleaning, cooking and consuming a fish is on my to-do list. I have never dispatched an animal and eaten it. Not sure whether I have it in me to do a mammal yet, but I feel like it is time to try with fish, though. I know I can catch a fish, and I know I can cook it. It's the middle ste...

Sad this thing was not only shot with an arrow, but also a pistol. A huge, amazing, ancient fish.
