Re: Last Ice/Open Water Lake Trout - Trout Mafia Style

Excellent report Ed. Glad to see someone was getting something on the end of there lines as we Lewis and Clarked it down the DuPage. We did find some promising water that should be REAL thick with fish come late spring early summer.

Nice catch. When it comes to the first few fish of the season, who cares about the size of the fish. Nice job on the water today.

Re: What type of reel?

Hi Warner, welcome to the site. As for the bait caster. I personally do not use one, but I've heard many people say the same thing when looking into them. Ask the guys at the store, and do not go cheap on the reel. It isn't something that is easy to get the hang of, and a cheap reel can only cause m...

Re: Targeting Muskie

Thank you for the information everyone. I'll need to get out to the fox soon and give a few spots a try. I would like to target these critters. I now have a better understanding of where to start.

Targeting Muskie

I'm not very familiar with the mighty waters of the Fox River. I've been doing countless searches on the internet regarding muskie fishing on the Fox River. I'm just looking for information regarding the toothy critter on the Fox. Of course, me being a novice muskie fisherman (since I've never hooke...

Re: RodBuilding is an Addicton!!!

Matt, rod looks great. You're doing great work over there. Just like I said before I started Fly Fishing...I'll never get into that because I know I'll get addicted. I'm sure within the next 2 years I'll start rod building.

Re: Found a Book on Trout Fishing Yesterday

I just recently started reading for pleasure. Since Christmas I've read 2 books which were both great reads. The first one is called Zipping my Fly by Rick Tosches. It was a great book about his mini fly fishing adventures. He has a great way of writing that really gives you a visual of what he is t...

Re: DuPage Saturday

Easy enough. I'll shoot for 2pm then. Not sure what I'm going to be throwing yet. I love the thrill of working a fly rod, but I'll land more fish throwing spinning gear. I'll end up bringing both I'm sure.
